The roof motor would only be engaged after the front locking motor has released the roof, so maybe the locking motor is shot. Which would be a lot easier and cheaper to fix. Not a mechanic.. Roof started to play up a couple of weeks ago with the red warning sign coming on the instrument panel. Finally managed to get it to open and close - all good. Next day took the top down roof went all the way into the boot/trunk and the lid closed. No windows working though so couldn't raise them.
Unscrew the plug with an allen wrench and fill to appropriate level with hydraulic fluid. Replace cap and then turn T-handle clockwise and secure tightly. If tank was completely empty, it will take a few lifts back and forth of the top with button to build up good pressure. Thank goodness it is a cheap and easy fix.
